Hello! so it has been a really long time since i wrote in this blog,
my summer holiday is nearly to an end, well i still got 1 month less left but hey finally i could find a new hobby & interest, and it is cosplay!
i really like cosplaying since a long time but due to my insecurity and so on, (and also money) i can't really did it. A few months ago, suddenly i found this unexpected courage and thought that "why not give it a try?" and bam, i got into this cosplay community xD
Cosplaying isn't cheap, nor expensive. It depends on what material you wanna use and how you treat it. I might be a newbie, but this last days i've tried so many materials from fabric, foam to glue. It really interesting how we can turn everyday things into something so creative. I'll explain this later, now let's get started!
I personally don't really like to play touken ranbu, since it's all in japanese, but i really like to watch their cosplay in the net, since the outfits are damn cool and interesting (it's quite complex and the medieval-japanese things are just so me) so i decided to make nakigitsune's costume.
I'll explain how to make nakigitsune's armor, swords, accessories later so now let's get started to the top!
1. Pattern
First thing first, you need to make the top pattern in a piece of paper (newspaper is the best) measure your body and draw it, Nakigitsune's top is actually using a double-breasted suits pattern, here's the pattern.
2. Draw & Cut
So after you got the pattern on the piece of newspaper, you can go to the fabric. Lay the newspaper in the fabric, leave about 3 cm more from the newspaper, draw the pattern (you can use with sew chalk or crayon) and cut it.
3. Hemming
now that you have the fabric with the pattern, you need to hem the outer line of the fabric, why? Hemming (or called obras, in indonesia) prevents your clothes unravelled when you wear it, and plus it makes your clothes much more neat-looking. And also, makes sure your hem threads is the same colour as your fabric!
4. Pin-it-up
So after the fabric is hemmed, you need to get the fabric in the order so it looks like a clothes now. Pin it with needles, where the inner line crossed (not the one with the hem) and it suppose to be like this right now :
5. Sew & Ribbons
If you didn't use to sew right away after you pin it, then you really need to sew it by hand first. DO NOT straight away sew it with machine if you didn't use to it, it will ruin your clothes (really). After that, you will need to arrange the ribbons right in the order and pin it, then sew it by your hand, it's basically the same with how you do with the clothes, only if you sew the ribbon, then you need to sew both the right and left line :D
6.Buttons, Buttonhole & Springpress
For buttonholes, i actually didn't really cut it/make it a hole, since using round buttons can easily off when you wear it. So i decided to use springpress. I still make the button hole, and sew the buttons on it. Underneath, i sew the spring press :3
i only give 5 springpress on the top, 2 upper left-right, and the rest lined up to bottom on the right side.
6. Result
It took about 1 week to finish the top, but it is actually doesn't take that long if you do it (since i have another things to do too).

The blue one i use fabric that usually made for uniform skirts, it's a little thick but it has a really nice texture, I forgot what's the name of the fabric tho 😔
